Red and blue lights flared ahead. Dan slowed, waving out the window, shouting over the rain. “Truck 94A, emergency stop! Need assistance!”
But the officers didn’t wave him in. They raised their hands—palms out—ordering him to stay put.
One of them shouted something into a shoulder mic, and suddenly all their cruisers pulled off the road, clearing a path.
In his mirror, the SUV’s siren cut out—and then it pulled up alongside him with tinted windows rolling down.
